PTNamibia Funding Strategy

Mobilising funding for major improvements to public transport is a challenge, particularly in developing countries. The Government of Namibia, the City of Windhoek and the GIZ are working to develop an improved public transport system in Windhoek and to secure the necessary funding for its implementation over the short-term. In support of this initiative, the GIZ appointed us to develop a grant mechanism to facilitate the flow of national funding to the City of Windhoek.

We devised and applied a framework for the development of a public transport grant by drawing on international learnings and our experience in the African public transport sector. The positive realisation of this grant will be an important step toward improving sustainable transport in both Windhoek and the country as a whole.
