Climate Change in Water Resources – Zambia

Zambia, like most countries in the SADC region, amended its water legislation to align with the principles of Integrated Water Resources Management. Effective implementation of the legislation required developing practical and clear regulations to give detail to the spirit of the law.

Working with a team of selected independent consultants from Zambia, we developed the technical content of proposed regulations under the National Water Act. These were developed on the basis of the technical knowledge of the team, and input from key informants in the Zambian government and private sector. The technical content was tested in a participatory workshop, before being handed over to the legal team for final drafting of the regulations.
